The European Institute of Management and Technology (EIMT) ensures fair and equal opportunities for both women and men. The principle of gender equality, a key priority for EIMT, is outlined in different legal and strategic documents. In 2022, the Institution’s administration decided upon implementing the Gender Policy Code of Conduct, comprising eight guiding principles that really nurture a culture of equal opportunity.
Core principles:
Equality of Rights and Development Opportunities: The entire staff and students at EIMT should ensure equal rights and development opportunities for both men and women. This Code of Conduct shall apply to everyone working or studying at the Institution and express our commitment to promote true gender equality.
Serving the Interests of Both Genders: The interest of both genders must be served and represented in all forms and at every level and functions. This includes ensuring a balanced representation and taking care of gender-specific needs at all professional and academic scenarios.
Achieving Balanced Gender Representation: EIMT always strives for a balanced representation of women and men at all levels and in all functions. In cases where one gender is underrepresented, the Code encourages giving preference to candidates of the underrepresented gender, if their qualifications are comparable. Greater importance is assigned to promote junior female academics.
Protection against Discrimination: Nobody should be adversely treated on the grounds of their sex, gender identity, or gender transition.
Support for Work-Family Balance: EIMT supports employment styles that enable staff and students to balance their professional/academic responsibilities with family commitments. The institution offers childcare facilities for staff and students on campus.
Respect for Dignity and Integrity: EIMT respects the dignity and integrity of all individuals. Sexual harassment and sexist behavior are treated as violations of human dignity and shall not be accepted under any situation.
Inclusive Language: At EIMT, the written and spoken language should demonstrate equal treatment for women and men, while keeping precision and poise intact.
Monitoring Progress: Information related to gender equality is collected frequently, combined with the management tools of the Institution, and examined for tracking and monitoring the development. The data collected also forms the basis for implementing subsequent measures. The Office for Gender Equality and Diversity is available to advise both staff and students on all gender-related matters and to consult on issues concerning gender equality.
Adopted by the Senate of the Institution on 2nd January 2023 as per policy document EIMT/Policy/2023/01003.
